Prepotischis

Chiesetta dei Tre Re

The small church stands, in the shade of a centuries-old lime tree, about half an hour’s walk from the hamlet of Prepotischis. The building is simple, but its small entrance porch, with its distinctive squared opening, is very beautiful. It is attributed to Andrea from Škofja Loka, starting from 1447. The nave is rectangular with exposed beams. In the presbytery we find the ribs, whose main keystones depict the Magi, the Virgin and Child, and Saint Anne, interspersed with rosettes on the minor keystones. The sixteenth-century altarpiece above the modern altar, depicting the Magi—perhaps from the Pordenone school—could be by Pasquale Florigerio.
