Albana

Chiesetta di San Giacomo Apostolo di Corte

The history of this votive chapel is closely tied to that of the Castle of Albana which, reduced over the centuries to the size of a fortified house, overlooks it from a rocky spur projecting toward the Judrio stream. Some historians believe the chapel is in some way linked to the marriage in 1483 between Fiammetta De Portis (from the Cividale family that owned the castle at the time) and Giacomo di Mels (descendant of a powerful Friulian noble family). Considering the current condition of the building, it is hard to believe it once had a glorious past. Walking around and observing the three side windows, one can imagine the interior nave well lit, immersed in the silence of the countryside.
