Chiesetta di San Luca Evangelista

Intriguing is the link between the place-name and its dedication: the linden is a medicinal tree (as well as the quintessential sacred tree of the Valleys) and the apostle Luke was a physician. The only certain dating regarding the church’s construction concerns the building of the choir (1544). Inside, the nave is rectangular, with an exposed beam ceiling; the apse holds the image of Saint Luke. The wooden altar is from the seventeenth century: in three niches it presents a Madonna enthroned with Child between two angels and Saints Luke, Mark, and Nicholas. On the walls of the choir, supporting the corbels, the evangelists stand out.
