Chiesetta di Santa Lucia

It can rightly be called the Sistine Chapel of Slavia Friulana. Its construction dates back to 1454 and it was later restored after the devastating earthquakes of the 16th century. Visiting the interior enchants for the gold and colors that catch the eye. On the wall of the triumphal arch, the theme of heavenly salvation is depicted: at the top are Cain and Abel, while on the sides stand Saint Florian and Saint George; in the band below you can admire an angel and Saint Martin, while on the right side we see Saint Zacchaeus in the tree. Observing the interior of the presbytery, we follow the ribs with keystones of shields and rosettes and note the fresco decoration: episodes of the Passion of Christ, the martyrdoms of the saints, and the procession of the twelve apostles can be admired. The sacred story continues in the triangular sails, which contain eight prophets with scrolls bearing passages from the Bible: one of them carries the date 1536. In the center appears Christ Pantocrator, surrounded by angels. The gilded eighteenth‑century altar, rich in decorations, by master Lukas Scharf (circa 1695), is remarkable; its tripartite base is repeated at the top as well. It is interesting to follow with the eye the central section, from the base to the apex: the Christogram, the Blessed Sacrament, the statue of Saint Lucy, the Pietà, and God the Father blessing.
