Chiesetta di San Zenone

It’s striking how large this church is, but you have to imagine a time when these places were very populated, with large families. The church was consecrated by the Bishop of Koper (general governor of the Patriarchate of Aquileia) in 1493. In 1746 the bell tower was built and, inside the church, a chapel dedicated to Saint John Nepomuk. From the entrance door you access the rectangular nave with a ceiling frescoed with incense-bearing angels and the Blessed Sacrament. A full round arch leads into the presbytery. The 19th‑century marble altar features the statue of the Virgin, with Saints Joseph and Luke at the sides.
